Divest from Genocide. Resist US Authoritarianism. Take Action.

As Tax Day approaches, thousands across the nation are rising in resistance! The time has come to make our voices heard and our dollars count. The 2025 tax season marks the beginning of a National Tax Strike to oppose the constitutional crisis unfolding under POTUS47. Local actions include: Discussion on “Breaking Free from the War Machine: Stories of Tax Resistance” in Washington DC, “Burma Shave” sign display during rush hour in Portland, Oregon, a vigil outside the IRS in Manhattan, and redirection ceremonies where activists will redirect tens of thousands of withheld federal tax dollars to underfunded organizations. Redirection ceremonies are set to take place From Princeton to Cape May to Atlantic City.

The U.S. government continues to fuel endless war, militarization, and oppression with our tax dollars—while gutting essential services for education, healthcare, housing, and climate justice. This year, we take a stand: we refuse to fund war, genocide, and authoritarian rule.

WHY WE STRIKE

• Endless War & Military Expansion: The U.S. spends over $895 billion on war while cutting aid to essential services. Over $3 billion is funneled to Israel annually for military aggression, fueling war crimes and humanitarian crises.
• Authoritarian Overreach: The Trump administration is dismantling public programs—eliminating the Department of Education, slashing Medicaid, housing assistance, food aid, and environmental protections while increasing military spending to nearly 50% of the federal budget.
• Moral & Ethical Resistance: Our tax dollars fund drone warfare in Afghanistan and Yemen, military bases in over 800 locations worldwide, and police militarization domestically. We say: No more!

HOW TO TAKE ACTION

• Refuse to Pay for War: Many resisters refuse a portion or all of their tax bill; others live below the taxable income threshold.
• Redirect Your Taxes: Thousands are reallocating their tax dollars to housing initiatives, mutual aid networks, food security programs, and climate justice organizations.
• Join Local Protests & Events: From Berkeley to Manhattan, communities are taking to the streets. Attend a redirection ceremony, panel discussion, or IRS protest near you.
