Perfectly timed for Women’s History Month Quakers can return to the origins of our Equality principles rising out of prisons in 1650’s England. This revolution was led by all classes, women, men, elders and children. Step into renewing a testimony and women’s ministry led by Margaret Fell.

Women’s Voices having a role in church and state exists today in Quakerism globally. Even patriarchal societies; women have a voice that demands authentic deep listening. In smaller pockets across our planet, from the pastoral meetings of the Midwest to emerging worship groups in Europe and Asia, the principle Fell defended—that prophetic voice is not a matter of gender but of the Spirit’s calling—remains a cornerstone of Quaker identity.

The newly spirited fast growing Quaker org wants you to be a part of this revolutionary cornerstone of feminism. Professor and Quaker Scholar Paul Anderson will introduce his newly updated edition of Margaret Fell’s Women’s Speaking Justified, “a bold 17th-century defense of women in ministry. Translating and annotating Fell’s pamphlet into modern English, Anderson brings fresh clarity to a foundational text!”

Invitation Within an Invitation

As you register for the Friends Incubator conversation about Margaret Fell’s enduring legacy, we invite you to consider a second step. Learn more about the Friends Incubator for Public Ministry. Read Windy Cooler’s blog, “The Prophetic Edge.” Attend one of their programs. And if you are able, support this work financially so that the next Margaret Fell—the one who is sitting in the green pastures of a burial ground outside a meetinghouse right now, wondering if her call is real, wondering who, if anyone, will travel again—will find community she needs.

Because the question before us is not whether the Spirit will continue to call women and men into public ministry. That much is certain. The question is whether we will be ready for them when they arrive.

Margaret Fell was ready. She wrote, she traveled, she suffered imprisonment, and she helped build a movement that swept across the world. The Incubator exists to help us become ready again.
Join us for the conversation. And then join the work.

The discussion takes place on 9 March (the day after #internationalwomensday) at 4pm PT / 5pm MT / 6pm CT / 7pm ET

This event will not just be a history lesson. It will be a living conversation about:

Why Fell’s biblical argument still matters in an era of renewed debate about women’s roles.

How scripture has been misread and reclaimed across generations.

What “universal ministry” looks like for today’s Church.

How the Quaker witness can speak into broader ecumenical conversations.

Whether you are a lifelong Friend, a pastor, a scholar, or someone simply discerning your own call, we invite you to listen for the same Spirit who moved Margaret Fell to write, and who continues to inspire living proclamation today.

Don’t miss this chance to explore a text that changed the world.
