Does Thee want an Iran War Powers Resolution from Congress?

“Following United States attack against Iran, de-escalation and diplomacy must be prioritized.

Congress has the sole power to authorize the use of military forces under Article I of the Constitution. U.S. Congress must reassert its war powers as it did in 2020 on a bipartisan basis following the strike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Urge your Senators and House member to cosponsor and vote for the Iran War Powers Resolution (S.J.Res.104 & H.Con.Res.38).

The American people do not want another endless war in the Middle East. We urgently need diplomacy, not violence and illegal executive overreach. Write to your members of Congress and tell them to speak out!”  FCNL.org

Last night, the United States and Israel attacked Iran. President Trump announced that he is seeking regime change. Many people have already died, including at least 40 children in a girls’ elementary school. Attacks from both sides are continuing.

We have and will continue to also condemn the violent actions of the Iranian government towards its own people, which have resulted in the deaths of thousands of Iranian civilians. But war is not the answer. Everyone involved in this conflict must stop and deescalation must begin so we can return to diplomacy. “

The Trump administration’s attack on Iran is illegal and immoral. Only Congress has the power to declare war. The stakes are simply too high for Congress to remain silent, as war with Iran is both catastrophic and violates the Constitution.

War with Iran goes against our interests and risks the lives of our soldiers and countless civilians.

The War Powers Resolution will make clear that Congress and only Congress can make the decision to go to war as our Founders envisioned. It will also give diplomacy a chance and show the world that the American people refuse to greenlight more war in the Middle East.”

Statement on the Illegal Aggression Against IranSaturday, February 28, 2026
Over night, the United States began yet another unauthorized attack on a sovereign nation. As the seemingly inevitable conclusion of weeks of preparation that included two Navy aircraft carriers, our government has launched attacks by plane and missiles on Iran. These included the intentional targeting of the compound of Iran’ supreme leader. As of 2:45pm EST on the 28th, it is being reported that Ali Khamenei has been killed.
United States law makes it a crime to threaten, much less kill, the leader of a foreign nation (18 USC §112). There are also multiple Executive Orders that specifically forbid the assassination of foreign leaders. Add this to the growing list of illegal actions that have been taken in recent months; a list that already includes murdering shipwrecked survivors of an attack on a boat, unjustified federalization of the National Guard of multiple states, and the invasion of Venezuela to obtain control of that nation’s oil resources.
Quaker House’s mission says that we are a “manifestation of the Friends’ Peace Testimony.” One of the most frequently quoted lines that explains this Testimony says “all bloody principles and practices we do utterly deny, with all outward wars, and strife, and fightings with outward weapons, for any end, or under any pretence whatsoever, and this is our testimony to the whole world.”
It is in our witness to this testimony that Quaker House condemns the actions, past and continuing, against Iran. We “utterly deny” that there is any justification for these illegal actions, and call for the immediate withdraw of the military forces that have been moved into the area.
