Haddonfield Meeting will be participating in the Skirmish for the first time this year, providing a family-friendly, quiet space for picnics, games, and educational information from 9 AM-3 PM. This town-wide event commemorates an engagement between British and Hessian soldiers and the Colonial Militia; the Meeting will be provide information about the role of Quakers during the "Commotion" (American Revoluton).
Schedule: From 10 am - 2 pm, there will be a display regarding Colonial Medicine (meetinghouse); from 10:30 am - 12 pm, Colonial-Era Toys & Games (school playground behind 47 N. Haddon Avenue); from 11 am - 1 pm, Refill Your Water Bottles & Grab a Cookie (meetinghouse); 12 pm - 1 pm, Gravestone Rubbings & Scavenger Hunt (graveyard). The re-enactment of the Skirmish is at 2 PM along Kings Highway; those with sensitive ears are welcome to come to the far side of the Meetinghouse to escape the noise. AND: From 10 AM-1 PM, there will be a History Faire at the Masonic Temple. There will also be information tables at the Meetinghouse (Friends Avenue) and the School (Haddon Avenue). Everyone is welcome; Friends are especially encouraged to visit with us. A map of the area can be found on the meeting's website. RAIN Date: Sunday, June 5.
