Quakers in Pastoral Care and Counseling Annual Conference: Please Join Us! AprilApr 28 2022 17:00 - MayMay 01 2022 13:30 America/New_YorkZoom, PA

"Praying All Ways: Nurturing Our Gifts as Friends" is the theme of this year's conference of Quakers in Pastoral Care and Counseling (QPCC), being held Thursday, April 28, through Sunday, May 1, at Quaker Hill Conference Center in Richmond, Indiana.
The conference will be hybrid with Zoom availability for those who cannot attend in person. For rates and to register, please click this link to QPCC's website, http://www.qpcc.us/
The extended-weekend program will integrate the sensory and experiential dimensions of prayer, and how to apply it in the work of caring for people, whether in health-care settings, healing arts, therapeutic practice, or in lay pastoral care in meetings. Students are welcome.
It is based in the teachings of Dr. Howard Gardiner that we all have different learning styles - logical/mathematical, visual/spatial, verbal/linguistic, musical/rhythmic, bodily/kinesthetic, natural - and these are reflected in how we pray.
Our weekend will include group experiences, small-group reflection, and personal time for reflection, as well as time for retreat, rest and renewal, and connecting with each other.
Mary Mahoney, EDD, BCC, a board-certified staff chaplain at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, Vancouver, WA, is the facilitator. Endorsed by Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends (Quaker), Mary has taught extensively in leadership, peace education, and interfaith and intercultural relations.
"Deepening our individual and corporate practice of prayer," Mary says, "we come to see how prayer and renewal can come together to extend our care of others and ourselves in our work and lives."
Founded in 1990, Quakers in Pastoral Care and Counseling brings together Friends who are chaplains, therapists, social workers, art therapists, pastoral counselors, seminarians, and lay ministers.
Our experience is that the QPCC conference is not just another professional convention. It is a time for refreshment and connection in a supportive and loving community. Relationships are built and friendships deepened in our time together, in small worship-sharing groups, class time, over meals, and walks on the Quaker Hill conference.
A large part of the experience of the conference is connecting to others. Our survey of our members shows peer support is the #1 reason they are involved in QPCC, cited by 97%, and the most important reason for attending QPCC's annual conference.
We are excited to welcome you, whether you are new to QPCC or a returning F/friend, to be part of our circle.
