Let’s Talk About the 1619 Project

Let's Talk About the 1619 Project FebruaryFeb 17 2022 19:30 - 20:30 America/New_YorkZoom, PA

Four hundred years after the first enslaved Africans arrived in what is now the United States, the New York Times published a wide-ranging collection of essays, photos, stories and poems that examined the origin and history of the United States in the context of race and racism. A Pulitzer Prize, objections from some historians, and political controversy followed. Project creator Nikole Hannah-Jones discussed the project, its goals, development and impact in a recent Code Switch podcast. Listen to the 50-minute conversation here, and join the Moorestown Friends Meeting's Anti-Racism Committee on Thursday 17 February at 7:30pm for a discussion about who writes our history and how we understand it.
