You are invited to a Threshing Session
for the Haddonfield Meeting Community
on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
A Threshing Session is a Quaker concept with historic roots. It is a meeting where, guided by Spirit, Friends can share factual information, air their views about a controversial subject, or express opinions. The aim is to provide a safe space where we can move toward greater understanding of an issue by sharing our feelings and thoughts before taking the matter to a Meeting for Worship for Business.
This Threshing Session will give us an opportunity to share thoughts about our dark history of slaveholding, and how we may wish to respond as a community to these facts. It will be wise to read the documents attached below well ahead of the 14th so your mind can absorb and your heart respond to these facts. The Session on the 14th will be moderated to be sure everyone has a chance to speak. Please join us as we move toward an understanding of this complicated and emotional topic.
