Assisting Migrant Farm Workers

Medford Meeting, Medford/Leas residents and Atlantic City Area Meeting members prepared Welcome Kits for the South Jersey Migrant Worker Outreach organization and the Haitian Migrant Worker Outreach (MWO).  A total of 150 kits were provided plus many extra items. The MWO distributes about 1200 kits to the migrant families who come up from Florida each year via busses with very few personal belongings. They are picking blueberries for the farmers in the Hammonton area. Dory Dickson, the MWO Director, works tirelessly to enhance the workers lives while they are in South Jersey. The kits include socks, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, bandanas, clothespins, hard candies and a note saying “Welcome” in Spanish, Haitian Creole, and English.
